A Healing Perspective: Seeing Life Differently

Updated: Nov 29

Trauma can leave deep emotional scars that can hinder one's ability to move forward. Here are a few things that are available to you to make progress today.

A) Acknowledge the Hurt

Scripture: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

I encourage acknowledgment of pain as the first step toward healing. God's Word offers comfort and reminds individuals that they are not alone in their suffering.

B) Forgiveness as Freedom

Scripture: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

Forgiveness doesn't condone the hurt but releases its hold on one's heart, allowing space for peace and healing.

This isn't an exhaustive list, but here are a couple of ways that I can help:

A. Dilectical Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Renewing the Mind:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)

    • DBT focuses on identifying and reframing negative thought patterns, which aligns with the Biblical call to renew the mind.

B. Emotional Regulation

  • Self-awareness & Prayer:

    • Encourage techniques like journaling emotions followed by prayer, asking for guidance and peace.

    • Practice deep breathing or grounding exercises to manage overwhelming feelings.
